NEWS AND HIGHLIGHTS: Headache vs. breakfast: You can avoid or reduce your chronic headache by eating a breakfast that is high in protein (such as eggs). This remedy is especially useful if your headache starts at occipital area (at the back of the head) and radiates to the area behind the eye-ball. Dr. Li Wang is voluntarily teaching “Acupressure for Headache” classes at Bloomington and Richfield community education. If you are interested, please call 952- 224-9610 or 952-681-6132.
SEASONAL HEALTH NOTES: Summer is finally coming. It is starting to get hot and muggy outside. Please remember to drink warm water after a big sweat, avoid getting directly blown on by air conditioners and fans when you sleep or rest, and cover your abdomen in a cold room if you have cramps in your stomach.
Sunshine is beautiful. If you have a Vitamin D deficiency, it is good time to have some sunshine. But in order to protect your skin from future disease, please remember to cover yourself with either long sleeve thin shirts and long thin pants or sunscreen when you stay under the sun (such as playing golf, working outside, gardening, etc). For more detailed information, check our seasonal notes.
RECIPES: Eggs are great for breakfast as protein resources. Here is a fancy way to cook eggs – Egg Pudding. It is very easy to digest and thus easily absorbed by your body. In China, it is often used to feed children as young as 4 months. Ingredients: 2 eggs, 2 inches of green onion, a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, and some sesame oil. Instructions: 1. Beat the eggs in a glass bowl or ceramic bow with the salt 2. Add an equal amount of water slowly while stirring the egg mix 3. Add the green onion 4. Put the bowl in a pot that is filled with 1 inch of water 5. Turn stove to medium-high and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the eggs are no longer runny 6. Take the bowl out, and add the soy sauce and a couple of drops of sesame oil on top of the egg. It is ready to serve. Serves 2 people
Have a healthy, happy summer season.
