SEASONAL HEALTH NOTES: So far, we are having a wonderful winter: snow is much lighter than normal, and the temperature is higher than average. But the warm weather also allows germs to keep flourishing. Many people are suffering from dry cough, sore throat, or diarrhea due to the dry weather in combination with rich holiday food. If you are one of them, you can do the following to help yourself.
1. Try not to eat too much spicy food. Spicy food can make the heat and dryness in your body worse, which can cause dry throat, dry stools, hemorrhoids, etc.
2. Try not to eat too much greasy, fried, rich, or oily dishes such as pizza and cheesecake. Greasy foods can lead to heat accumulating in the body. Heat build-up causes sore throat and leads to dampness in the stomach, which in turn leads to acid reflex, vomiting and diarrhea.
3. If you feel that your throat feels dry, try eating steamed pears with honey to cool and moisturize your breathing pathways along the throat and lungs. If you start suffering sinusitis or coughing, come get an acupuncture treatment. It is the best and fastest way to get rid of painful plugged ears, dizziness and coughing.
