


DIET TIPS FOR NEW MOMS:
The following are tips for new moms and who will take care the new moms (within 30
days of delivery):
1. Do not drink or eat cold
2. Only have hot water shower, no cold water or lukewarm water shower
3. Eat at least 2 - 3 eggs per day
4. Drink chicken (the best chicken are the chicken have eggs) soup and eat chicken
5. If the mom lack of breast milk, drink fish soup without salt.
6. If it is possible, bake the placenta and make it into powder and take it within the
month.
Recipe for chicken soup for new moms:
1. One matured chicken, the older the better, cut into about 2"x2" pieces
2. Salt as less as possible
Add enough water to cover the chicken pieces, bring it to boil, cook at medium heat until
the chicken is well cooked, add the salt and ready to serve.
Recipe for fish soup for new moms:
1. One piece of fish, it would be better to has skin and scale on it
2. One piece of unsalted bacon
Add enough water to have 1 inch water above the fish, add the bacon, bring it to boil,
cook at medium heat until soup turn to milky white, drink the soup, eat fish, throw the
bacon away.
RECIPES:
1. Steamed Pears
A popular fall recipe for healthy lungs is steamed pears. Its function in Chinese
Medicine is to clear heat in the lung and moisten the lung.
Ingredients: 1 pear ( Asian pear for best results purchased at an Asian grocery), 2 tbs
honey, 8 grams Chuan Bei Mu ( a Chinese herb to moisten the lung, purchased at a
Chinese herb store or AlterMed Acupuncture).
Instructions:
1. Grind Chuan Bei Mu into powder
2. Peel the pear and cut it into big pieces
3. Mix the pear, honey and powdered herb together
4. Steam the mixture in a double boiler method for 20 minutes
and it is ready to serve. Serves 1-2 people. Also, store in
refrigerator and reheat later.
2. Cream Cheese Wonton
A popular party appetizer is cream cheese wonton. It is very easy to make and people
enjoy it very much.
Ingredients: 20 wonton wraps (can be found in grocery stores like Rainbows or Cub
Foods, etc) Cream cheese ½ lb, Vegetable oil
Instruction:
1. thaw the wraps (if frozen) before use
2. put 1 tea spoon of the cheese in the center of a wonton wrap, fold the
wrap diagonally (now, it is a triangle, the cheese is inside), use water to
seal the edges of the wraps together and then stick the bottom corners
together in the center
3. deep fry wontons until the wraps turn to light brown
Serves 5 people.
3. Pepper Mint Green Tea
A popular Chinese beverage for summer is green tea with pepper mint leaves. If you
are staying outside and sweat, you should drink it hot or warm to help expel your body
heat from your body through sweat, so that you will feel cool. If you are in a cool area,
you can drink it in any temperature as you desire to cool your body. Try it yourself:
Ingredients: 1 green tea bag, 3 fresh or dried pepper mint leaves
Instructions:
1. put the tea bag and the mint leaves into an 8-12 oz cup, add boiling water to the cup.
Serve hot or naturally cool down.

4. Tea Leaf Eggs
A popular Chinese breakfast item is Tea Leaf Eggs. They help strengthen the brain
and benefit concentration. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and culture, people
are encouraged to eat high protein foods in the morning, and eat less at dinner time.
The Tea Leaf Egg is a good source of protein for breakfast or for a snack anytime.
Ingredients: 1 green tea bag, 3 eggs, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp fennel seeds
Instructions:
1. Add enough water to cover the eggs, add all of the ingredients. Bring to a medium
boil for 5 minutes.
2. Crack the egg shells as much as you can using a large spoon (do not remove the
shell from the egg)
3. Place the eggs back in the same water and bring to a medium boil for another 3
minutes, turn off heat and then leave the eggs in the water overnight.
Serves 3 people
